Still alive!!!

Yes, I'm still alive. I just have been busy in the real world. I should possibly consider posting my project here. Yeah... I think I will start to consider that.

Despair

Why do I end up in these moods of despair?

Has my soul finally been sucked from my body, leaving me a hollow shell just going through the moves?

It's inexplicable. Yet it's true.

I feel like my life has been a sham...

Dang! I did it again!

Yeah, I forgot about here again. I don't even know where to start to describe what the One Way World has been like since last July. In August, I thought I had a job offer that would have taken me away from the hotel, but the lady just could't commit to a start date. So I gave up on it, which really sucks because it was better pay and better hours! So here it is, March and I'm still slogging it out at the hotel. My exact feelings on the situation could fill an entire volume in itself.

In October my brother got hit by a SUV. Not his car...HIM! He was crossing the street on his way back from the grocery store and the guy came across the street and hit him. Sun was in his eyes. My brother is doing all right, but is still disappointed he didn't develop any psychic powers as a result of the skull fracture.

In November, I went crazy and got a new car. Mostly out of necessity as my Neon suffered at the hands of several potholes last winter. Some were approximately the size of the Grand Canyon. It ended up being easier to replace than repair. So now I have a PT Cruiser. Yay.

2011 has been pretty dull so far. I think the only excitement has been getting an iPad.

Argh. I don't know what I'm doing again!

Thought I'd stop by and say HI!

I'm at work and should probably do some actual work, right?

Thought so...

Been busy the past couple weekends here at work. I enjoy Sundays 'cuz I can get caught up on some things that just can't be finished on the busy nights.

Otherwise, my parents should be back from Maryland (by way of Wisconsin) today sometime. I won't see them 'til morning though...

Absentia!

Yeah. That's me. I've been absent from here for over 2 months. Yikes!!!!!

I don't have much of an excuse, except that I've been pretty stressed out by work lately. I go through periods like this every so often. I hate it. I really would like to get out of that place. Maybe if I didn't have a job that makes me down antacids like candy, I'd be more active with all sorts of things.

I need to come here more.

Really, I do.

This once a month thing is for the birds.

Speaking of birds... we have a bird feeder on one of the kitchen windows. The past few days a cowbird has been frequenting it. He's also been puffing himself up and pecking at his own reflection in the glass. It's really quite amusing. My brother got some video of it.

Sorry.

Not feeling the happiest right now. I am having thoughts of a kind that haven't visited me in about 30 years or so.

I don't like it.

Beyond bored

I think I have either attained a true case of ennui or reached the Nirvana state of boredom. Not even the things that usually make me smile are appealing.

I think it's the weather. It's been cloudy/foggy here in the One Way World. It's depressing. No offense, Seattle, but I don't think I could live there. I'd like to visit, but after a very rainy October and the past week here in the center of the US, I don't believe I could handle all the clouds and rain for too long a time.

Oh... I did get Peter Gabriel's new album today. Hopefully that will make my drive home after work a little more entertaining.

March post! Aieee! Copics!!! Aieee!!!!!

Another month has passed us by. Hopefully Spring is not too far away. It's been a little warmer here in the One Way World. The mountains of snow are no longer looking like the Rockies, but more like the Appalachians. I still think the last of it will melt sometime in July or August. Worst thing about the melting... seeing all the dirt left behind. I'm afraid we're going to be in for one smelly Spring again.

*^*^*^*^*^*

My local Hobby Lobby store is cruel. They doubled the size of the display racks for the Copic markers... and have started to fill all the slots! It only took me three years and way more money than I care to admit I spent to get the original 72 colors they had. Now I have to really be careful and limit myself whenever I go in there and look.

However, I did break down and bought four of them yesterday. Two light skin tones and two middle shades of green. I can always use skin tones...

*^*^*^*^*^*

Well... I suppose I could wander off and find something useful to do, but why waste a perfectly good feeling of apathy?

It's ALIVE!!!

*insert Weird Science by Oingo Boingo here*

Well... after ignoring things here for a couple months, I decided I should check out what was last said here in the One Way World. I had posted about the dead iPod. I finally took it somewhere to be looked at.

It's. Not. Dead.

The battery had drained itself.

I feel really kind of dumb for not checking that earlier.

I have a $300 paperweight!

My iPod died. Seriously. Nothing happens when I try the click wheel or plug it in. I went to the Apple support pages and found a few posts in the forums about iTunes 9 killing Classic iPods. Mine seems to be one of the latest victims.

Needless to say, I'm rather pissed off about it.

Having no iPod means not being able to watch any of my videos, which include all four seasons of Doctor Who and this year's specials up through Planet of the Dead, all of Torchwood, several Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck cartoons, and a dozen or so music videos. I know, you're sitting there going, "Why don't you just watch them on your computer?" Well, my laptop is so old and stupid, it can't handle a small music video. The processor just can't keep up at all.

So, now I'm stuck with no iPod and no Doctor Who.

I'm not a happy person right now.

Chavs & ASBOs

Learnt the meaning behind those two terms recently. Now I want to apply them to people I meet every day. Either I'm getting bitter in my old age, or I am way too judgemental.

Maybe I'm just mental. XD

I still need to reorganize my brain cell and take a good hard look at my life. I just need to have something accomplished before things get truly better. I feel better today about things, but still am not 100% happy with myself right now. Something's gotta change or something's gonna give.

Time to rethink things.

My life is in need of a good reorganization. I will be thinking on it the next few days/weeks. Hopefully things will be figured out by the end of May.

I will still be posting in the various places I post, but will be holding back on details for a while.

That is all.

Question I am most sick of hearing....

"Do you have an ATM here?"

I really wish I could answer it the way I want, which is, "Hell, no. What do you think we are, the Marriott? We're a fscking R****** I**! Get real!"

But I have to tell them where ATMs are located nearby.... *sigh*

Oh dear... make it stop!

As I have mentioned before, I work in a motel. Unfortunately the layout of the front desk area has the men's restroom right behind the front desk. I really hate that it's there.

You really don't want to know what the sounds are coming out of it right now. Trust me on this one.

Dental hygiene can be messy

I will admit that I don't floss like a person should. I hate flossing. The floss gets caught between my teeth and so on. Blah blah blah. Well... I went to Target to price WaterPiks. They were all higher than I wanted to pay. Then I looked up a little bit and saw the InterPlak rechargeable one. It was only $20, so I figured "what the hell" and bought it.

First try with it this morning.

I had to wipe off the mirror four times.

It's going to take some time to get the hang of pointing it properly.

The One Way World is slightly achy tonight.

In my quest to whip my sorry *** into shape, I decided to try Pilates. It is not as easy as it looks...which may be a good thing, considering my current shape is somewhat of a blob...

Anyhoo... I think things would have gone better had I not had to work around a cat that wanted to be close and had I worn socks to keep my toes warm and not cramping. I must wait until the weather is warmer to do this barefoot.

Well... I'm a little tired now and probably should go to bed.

...and it's only a little past 1:00 am.

Laters!

....so drive them staples deep....

Random lyrics from Green Day running through my head again! Yeah!

Well, the One Way World has been pretty freaky lately. Work sucks more than usual as of late. Hopefully one of two things will happen sooner or later: 1. I win the lottery and can tell them all where to put it, or 2. Hell will freeze over and people will actually stop thinking only of themselves and realize that other people have valid opinions on things, too. I won't hold my breath for either of them to happen.

On the way home from work tonight, my mind turned to the subject of Comfort Foods. Years ago when I worked at the mall, if I had a bad night, I would stop at a convenience store in the little town south of the little town where I live and pick up a Big Grab size bag of puffy Cheetos and a bottle of Welch's Grape Soda. Then I would go up to the office, turn on the computer, open up the Cheetos and Grape Soda, and fire up Tomb Raider... and start throwing Lara Croft off of high things just to hear her squeak when she hit the floor.

I still have the urge to do that. But I don't have Tomb Raider on this particular computer and the convenience store is closed by the time I drive through that town.

Damn.

Mmmph.

I'm honestly amazed I don't have an ulcer.

Observations on driving at 6:00 am

I usually work the "B" shift from 3 to 11 pm. As the regular morning person is out on maternity leave at present, I've been having to work from 7 am to 3 pm a couple times a week. I've made some observations on my morning commute.

1. 5:00 am is way too frickin' early to get out of bed on a cold morning, and 6:00 am is not a fun time to drive in the winter.

2. If one is not driving a large pickup or SUV, one is definitely in the minority on the road.

3. Large pickup and SUVs have obnoxiously bright headlights. And the things are wide enough that at least one of my side mirrors has one of their headlights shining into it as they're tailgating me.

4. If one is doing the posted speed limit, one is driving too slow.

5. Streetlights sort of hurt the eyes after you've been driving in the dark for most of 25 miles. Even the orange ones hurt. Traffic lights when green? OW!

6. Morning DJs are irritatingly chipper for that time of day.

So... there you have it. Some things I've noticed during my morning commute the past few weeks. There's surely lots more, but at this point in time I don't recall.

Ta!
